We had so much fun on your first birthday! I left off last post with you in that awful hat:
We thought that after you had 4 months of wearing that helmet, this hat would be no big deal. Clearly you did not feel the same way!
We took the hat off of you and of course Alex wanted to wear it. So we let him wear it while you opened your first birthday gift:
After we you opened your gift from mom and dad, we all got dressed and ready to go have some birthday fun. We started the day at Bread Co for breakfast. You ate some fruit and an egg souffle.
After breakfast, we headed to the Missouri Botanical Garden. You were in a much better mood once you got some food in you and we got outside and into the fresh air. Once we got there, we headed straight to the Children's Garden. There was a Lego exhibit set up on the way, so we stopped to get a picture in one of the little Lego photo opts set up:
You liked the covered wagon and the canoe set up outside the Children's Garden. You and Alex played around in them and laughed and laughed.
Once we finally got into the Children's Garden, you and Alex played and had fun. You went down slides, climbed in a tree house, and walked over bridges (with mom, of course).
Hands up over the bridge!
There was one part where you could dress up like a Native American. Your dad and I thought it would be fun to dress you and your brother up like Native Americans (especially since Gram likes them so much). You did not agree with us:
All was well, however when we got to the water part. We put you and your brother in your swimsuits and let you loose. You just LOVE playing in water:
We decided to head out so that we could grab lunch before your nap. We went over the bridge:
And then stopped to take some pictures at the birthday cake outside:
Of course a day out with mom and dad wouldn't be complete without a trip to Adriana's. Unfortunately you were exhausted from all the fun we had that morning, so you napped while the rest of us had lunch:
Once we got home, I started working on your cakes for your big party we were going to have the next day. Unfortunately for me, your early nap led to an earlier wake up time. So as I was working on your cakes, you were helping yourself to some sprinkles in the opened baking cabinet:
It was your birthday, and you were ready to party!
And the next day, we did just that! I finished up making your cakes the next day and while you and your brother took a nap, dad and I set everything up.
After all your guests arrived, you enjoyed your pasta:
And then everyone sang Happy Birthday to you:
You were a little hesitant to rip into your cake at first, but once everyone stopped paying so much attention to you, you got in there and really enjoyed it!
Once the cake was cleaned up, it was time to open presents! You got a lot of really nice things and you had so much fun playing with it all with your cousins:
After you finished opening gifts, we watched the slideshow your dad put together for you and then you and your cousins played with your new toys, blew bubbles in the front yard and ran around and had fun till it was time for everyone to go home.
It was so much fun celebrating your first birthday with you. Your dad and I feel so blessed to have been able to spend the past year with you. We are looking forward to many more to come. We love you!
Love,
Mom
